EARRINGS

SPLURGE: You don’t really even have too splurge too badly on these, but it’s important to make sure your earring don’t hurt you, and there’s nothing more annoying than cheap earrings turning your ears green and making your ears itch!  Invest in sterling silver pairs and your ears will thank you! This one is super easy, and if you’re one of those people who had an awesome costume another year and are bummed you haven’t been able to re-use it?  Never fear, just be the dead version of it.  Prom Queen?  Zombie Prom Queen.  Mario and Luigi?  Zombie Mario and Luigi.  Sexy Bee?  Zombie sexy bee…ok maybe it doesn’t work for every costume, but it works for most of them… Continue reading

Mealtime Monday – Seafood Time

Mussels, and lobster, and haddock, OH MY!

IMG_1382

I’m baaaaaaack, and I’ve been doing a lot of cooking with seafood this week!  MY FAVOURITE!  I know not everyone agrees, but I absolutely adore it, and it can be a little overwhelming to cook it, worrying about over cooking it, or not cooking it enough.  Well I say there is NO NEED to fear!  Be bold and try a new dish today!

IMG_1381WHITE WINE MUSSELS

1 lb mussels

2 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp butter

1 small/medium onion

3 cloves garlic

1 cup white wine

parsley

Scrub the mussels in their shells and let them sit in a bowl of salt water (1 tbsp salt per quart).  Any mussels that don’t close after you’ve scrubbed them are dead, so discard them.  Leave the mussels in the water for 10 -15 minutes while you dice the garlic and onion into fine pieces.  Melt the butter a pot with olive oil and cook the onions and garlic until translucent on medium-low heat.  Add white wine, parsley and mussels, stir and cover for 8-10 minutes.  Discard any mussels that don’t open after cooking.  Serve with some kind of crusty bread to dip in the sauce!  DELICIOUS! Dreamworld Saturday – Home Movie Theatre

A whole new meaning to “Home Movies”!

When I was a kid, my friends basement was redone and they built in a home movie theatre, and it was probably the coolest thing I had ever experienced in my life up to that point… well maybe not, but at the time, it was AWESOME.  I will one day build my children the most awesome movie theatre in our basement where they can bring their friends and have the best movie nights EVER!

movieOk, this is AMAZING, a bit out of my budget (A LOT) but how COOL for inspiration! Continue reading

Health & Fitness Friday – Easy, Everyday Changes

Every little bit helps!

Not looking for any extreme weight loss solutions? Want to maintain your current health/weight and/or looking to slowly but surely do good things for your body then here are some great tips!

HEALTH

This is a recipe for a great, metabolism-boosting drink. It’s pretty good, and it’s supposed to boost your metabolism by 12% after just one cup! All you need is 8 cups of bhealthrewed green tea, 1 tangerine sliced (I didn’t have one/they weren’t in season so I used a grapefruit), and a handful of mint leaves. Mix it all together and keep it in a large pitcher in the fridge. Drink 1 pitcher everyday throughout the day and it supposedly helps to keep up your metabolism! This is Dr Oz’s very own recipe he calls the Tangerine Weight-orade, it’s pretty good (much more flavourful than drinking 2 litres of plain water) and has so many benefits. It’s ALL natural!
